Striving For Perfection!
Sanding and refinishing hardwood flooring is a very economical way to transform the look of your home and enhance its value.
In many cases, years of wear or neglect can cause wood floors to become dull and refinishing is needed to restore their original luster and beauty.
A Fresh Start for Your Hardwood Floors
Indeed, the warmth, elegance and durability of hard wood has become so alluring, the first thing many people do when buying a new home or redecorating an old one is to pull out the carpeting and restore the hardwood floors. Sometimes people may even decide to change the overall look or color of their existing floors.
Whatever the reason for your remodeling and redecorating efforts, Flat Rate Wood Floors loves to transform ugly old floors to make them look brand new! Our crew of highly trained professionals has the experience and technology to provide you the best quality and cleanest sanding and refinishing processes available today. Our systems are designed to protect your health and the environment while achieving maximum results in terms of beauty and durability.
Fast Procedure for Lasting Effect
Our goal is always to save you time and money while keeping disruptions to a minimum. Toward this end, we follow a simple six-step process that can generally be completed in three to four days.
Step 1 : Preparation
To prepare for the sanding and refinishing operation, all furnishings are removed; walls and trim are masked, and plastic is hung over entrances and exists to minimize exposure to dust or chemicals.
Step 2 : Sanding and Conditioning
Flat Rate Wood Floors professionals use state-of-the-art sanding equipment and a powerful vacuum system that reduces dust to a minimum while conducting a three-pass sanding process to remove the old finish and ensure an even exposure of beautiful new wood. After the first rough sanding, filler is applied to the surface of the floor to seal cracks, crevices, and repair imperfections. When the filler is dry, the floor is sanded again with a finer grade of sand paper. Then, the floor is screened to remove any marks left by previous sanding passes. Finally, a buffer is used to eliminate any unseen scratches.
Step 3 : Staining
At Flat Rate Wood Floors we understand that the time and skill-intensive staining process is critical to customer satisfaction. We offer almost any color available on the market today. We also have extensive experience in matching stains to existing wood and preparing custom-mixed stains. Whenever possible, our service professionals will demonstrate stain samples on the flooring, so customers can see their chosen stain before the application process begins. Flat Rate Wood Floors applies stains by hand and uses machine buffing to ensure uniform coverage.
Step 4 : Sealing
Our technicians abide by National Wood Flooring Association standards for proper application of sealers and finish coats. Because the sealer coat is vital to the durability of the finish, we generally recommend using two or three coats after the stain. We apply buffing between each coat to ensure a uniform finish.
Step 5 : Finishing
Flat Rate Wood Floors offers a full range of oil-based and water-based polyurethane finishes designed to achieve semi-or high-gloss results. We apply three costs of finish, with additional screening and buffing between coats to remove dust and ensure the highest-quality product.
Step 6 : Cleaning up
We return your furnishings to their original state and remove all equipment and supplies. We never leave a mess behind!
